The Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Cooperative Bookshop located at Menara DBP, Jalan Dewan Bahasa has been upgraded to Galeri Ilmu DBP (DBP Knowledge Gallery). Y.Bhg Tan Sri Kamarul Ariffin Muhammad Yassin, Chairman of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Advisory Board officiated this bookshop as the first Galeri Ilmu in the Klang Valley in an elaborate ceremony.

Galeri Ilmu now carries over 4000 titles published by DBP. A wide array of DBP books and magazines are now available on the market for the convenience of the people, especially the book lovers.

This ceremony is the apex of the promotional activities conducted since April to introduce Galeri Ilmu to the masses. There are eleven Galeri Ilmu through out the country to date.

Upgrading of Distributors' Bookshops to Galeri Ilmu

In line with Dawama's effort to rebrand all its stores nationwide, selected Distributors bookshops throughout the country will be gradually upgraded to Galeri Ilmu DBP from October 2005.

Initially, nine distributors representing all zones have been offered to be upgraded to Galeri Ilmu. Galeri Ilmu is the centre selling Malay books and magazines of numerous Malay publishers, especially DBP. This is one of Dawama's efforts to make DBP books and magazines available to the community at large.

The Galeri Ilmu soft launch was held at the Pulau Pinang TV3 Carnival recently. YBhg Dato' Ahmad Farid Ridzuan, TV3 Chief Executive Officer officiated the soft launch.

According to Dawama Sdn Bhd Executive Chairman, Mr. Muhamad Luqman Che Harun, the Galeri Ilmu DBP project is an effort to increase the number of DBP titles available to the readers. Every Galeri Ilmu DBP will carry approximately 4000 DBP titles. Galeri Ilmu has been promoted through TV3's advertising slots allocated for Dawama as the Carnival participant since May.

The official launching will be held on the 3 rd of October 2005 . Dawama Sdn Bhd has selected the DBP Cooperative Bookshop from the Central Zone to be launched as the first Galeri Ilmu.
